WELCOME TO LEARNING SUPPORT (SEN DEPT)

At Mount View, we aim to promote education for all our students including those with learning difficulties and disabilities. It is for this reason that we have a specialist team that offers addition learning support to students according to the needs of each student. All students at Mount View, receive equal learning in their respective classrooms. However, there are times in a student’s academic journey that they may need additional support due to varying reasons. Therefore, our learning support team offers 1:1 support to specific students or small group sessions to meet their needs.

We have bespoke Learning Support rooms for students to receive additional support from our Learning Support teachers. The rooms have been specifically designed to be fun and engaging for all our students and fully equipped with activities and   resources for students to practice their skills and build on their knowledge and skills.

OUR COLLABOLATION WITH PARENTS AND NDITHA REHABILITATION CENTRE

Parents will be invited to discuss their child’s needs with the class teacher and learning support teacher, so we can ensure we are providing the best support and learning opportunities as possible. A detailed teaching plan will be written called Individual Education Plan (IEP) which identifies and targets a child’s area of needs. The plan will detail how we as a school will work with the student and family to support the area of need. The IEP’s are reviewed each term with parents, class teacher and learning support teacher to discuss the achievements and progress made.

Mount View works hand-in-hand with NDITHA rehabilitation center that offers Speech Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy. The Therapists come into school twice a week to work with students and learning    support teachers to maximize the student’s development, learning and progress. Class teachers may   recommend on occasions to parents liaising with therapist for the benefit of the child, this is the decision and responsibility of the parents.
